Rebecca Shaw, an investigative reporter for the Chicago News, arrives in Chicago by train to solve a mystery surrounding room 213 of the historic Ambassador Crown Hotel.
Six months earlier, a dramatic event occurred there—an event the police closed but which is shrouded in rumors.
Barely settled in, Rebecca discovers that the hotel hides sealed-off areas, silent employees, and an atmosphere thick with secrecy. Lieutenant David Rourke, a seasoned detective skeptical but intrigued by the case, joins her there to assist. Together, they search the deserted hallways, question the last remaining employees, and try to understand why no one wants to talk about what happened in room 213.
That same day, a stranger contacts Rebecca by phone. He claims to have “the truth” about what happened in the room six months earlier and agrees to meet her at the hotel. But before he could reveal anything to her, the man was murdered in the street by an unknown gunman.
Without witnesses, without evidence, without explanation… the mystery of room 213 is sealed once more. Rebecca and Rourke find themselves alone, with more questions than answers—and the certainty that someone wanted to prevent the truth from coming out. The secret of room 213 may remain buried forever.
